Translating more than a decade of visual work for global skate brands into a book, The Skate Art of Yaia is both portfolio and ritual—a hardcover archive of graphics created for CRIME, Santa Cruz, Cleaver, 5Boro, and more independent projects from 2009 to 2023. The editorial decision was to present the art in its rawest form. Imperfections, sketches, and spontaneous marks were preserved as part of the narrative, framing each board as not just a finished product but the trace of a process. Every page reveals the references, inspirations, and fragments that fuel Yaia’s uncompromising style.
The book itself carries the same weight as the work it contains. A matte yellow silkscreen cover with spot gloss varnish, 150g full-color silk pages, and case-bound finish make it a crafted object; meant to be collected, handled, and lived with. To extend the launch beyond print, we produced RITUAL, Directed by FANGO, a video piece merging mysticism, cult, and the language of 80s Italian cinema. International stops in Mexico and Spain activated the release through limited decks and events with Destructible Skateboarding and Welcome Madrid, grounding the book in the very culture it documents.
The Skate Art of Yaia is more than a retrospective. It’s a statement of intent: skate graphics as living myth, forged by the author’s devotion for the sport.
