ABOUT THE BOOK
“The Skate Art Of YAIA offers a raw, unedited, and honest visual journey through my process of creating art for skateboards, where imperfections become emerging details and an integral part of the visual narrative. You’ll find references and inspirations for each artwork in the rough sketches and spontaneous doodles, and, most importantly, in the process itself. This book is an invitation to share something genuine and discover your own meaning within.”
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Meet Julio César Battistelli, the creative force behind YAIA. For over a decade, he’s delved into Illustration, Graphic Design, Animation, and Art Direction, collaborating with global agencies and brands. YAIA’s art spans from intricate black white sketches to vibrant, colorful scenes, embodying versatility and a deep culture understanding.
“IT’S LIKE SOMEBODY REACHED INSIDE YOUR SKULL, DIPPED HIS PEN, AND SCRAWLED OUT IN PERFECT FORM ALL THE THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GEEK OUT”.
His intentions are straightforward: strike you and take you into a trip through skate rooted, punk/metal inspired images, fueled by cult cinema and underground comic references. The result is art that speaks directly to every generation’s cultural obsessions. With that approach it didn’t take long for leading brands to recognize his talent: NIKE, SANTA CRUZ, ADIDAS, HURLEY, CONVERSE, CRIME, FUCT, CARHARTT, VANS just to highlight a few. Featured in press, cultural events, and global exhibitions, YAIA’s work travels from New York to Tokyo, leaving a mark wherever it’s showcased.
